YOU'VE FILED A CLAIM,
NOW WHAT?
The hours and days following a loss are often the most confusing. Now that your claim is filed, the process moves into a structured sequence of inspections and approvals. Here is exactly what you should expect from from us.
CRITICAL "DO'S AND DON'TS" WHILE YOU WAIT
Call Cardinal Restoration to mitigate and stabilize the structure. The first 24-48 hours are critical in preventing mold, structural deterioration, and escalating damage.
Do not delay action or assume the damage will stop on its own. Water spreads, smoke residues worsen, and exposed areas invite additional issues.
Prioritize safety – stay off and out of the potentially compromised structure and be mindful of electrical exposure in wet conditions.
Do not tarp your own roof or enter areas with standing water or structural damage.
If safe, take photos or videos of the damage and affected areas following damage. This helps create a clear record of the initial condition.
Do not start disposal of non-salvageable personal items prior to proper documentation.
Trust the guidance of professionals. Depending on the damage, your insurance company or Cardinal Restoration may advise action items for you prior to our arrival.
Do not start removing debris or cleaning prior to Cardinal’s site-visit. As tempting as it can be, premature removal of water, mold or damage can make it challenging to properly assess the extent of the damage and determine accurate next steps.
